Big Brother Sets Sights on Tax Fraudsters
Single Person Discount fraud (and error in some cases) is costing Local Authorities 100's of millions of pounds and at a time when local governments are trying to cut the deficit, it is relatively easy to stop.
The self-confessed geeks at Data Discoveries can verify whether a claimant of council tax is living alone, or whether there are other occupants the council should know about. This already helped a council in England reclaim £500k in the first year.
